Navi Mumbai, May 16 -- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to not shut parks and gardens that are situated under high-tension wires this monsoon.

This matter had come into consideration as two women suffered injuries after a widget from a high tension electric post fell on them inside a garden at Airoli in August last year.

Following the incident, several residents and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) had requested the civic body to keep such parks and gardens shut during monsoons as the high-tension wires often discharge electric sparks because of the rains.
