Imphal, Sept. 22 -- A Kuki-Zo body on Sunday announced a three-day economic blockade across Kangpokpi district of Manipur over the lack of action against the perpetrators of the September 19 ambush on an army convoy that claimed the lives of two Assam Rifles personnel. "The inaction of the concerned authorities of the state as well as central government of India to nab the perpetrators of the heinous crime even after two days of the incident is a matter of national security concerned and a threat to the very idea of a constitutional validity where the state is under President's Rule," said Ng Lun Kipgen, spokesperson of the Kuki body, Committee on Tribal Integrity (CoTU), while announcing the economic blockade that will begin in the wee hours of Monday. Two Assam Rifles personnel were killed after a convoy moving from Imphal West to Bishnupur along NH2 was attacked in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area by unidentified assailants on Friday, the first targeted attack on security forces in the strife-torn state in over a year.
