Bird park, like Singapore's, to come up in Mulund
Mumbai, Aug. 30 -- Taking a leaf out of Singapore's renowned Jurong Bird Park, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is planning to develop a similar park in Mulund that will house exotic species from across the world. The BMC's maintenance department issued the tender on August 28. Once completed, the park will serve as a sub-centre to the Byculla Zoo.
"Mumbai will be getting a new aviary after 110 years," said BJP leader and Mulund MLA Mihir Kotecha, who was closely involved in pushing the project ahead. "To ensure the project meets global standards, we will be reaching out to Singapore's renowned Jurong Bird Park for guidance and collaboration," Kotecha said.
The park will be developed on a 17,958-square metre plot in Nahur village at an estimated cost of Rs.166 crore, according to BMC. The park is expected to be completed in two years. P3...
