BCCI guard held for stealing 261 jerseys worth Rs.6.52 lakh
MUMBAI, July 29 -- A security guard with a gambling addiction took his biggest gamble yet - allegedly stealing 261 jerseys valued at Rs.6.52 lakh from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He's now under arrest.
Farooq Khan, 40, who was a security guard at the BCCI's merchandise store at the Wankhede stadium, was arrested by the Marine Drive police on Sunday for stealing the cricket jerseys, each costing around Rs.2,500. Police said he sold them online to a dealer to feed his gambling addiction.
