badlapur local overshoots Vikhroli station
Mumbai, April 12 -- Commuters on Central Railway experienced a brief disruption Saturday evening after a Badlapur-bound local train overshot Vikhroli station and skipped its scheduled halt.
The incident took place at 5.52pm when the CSMT-Badlapur fast train crossed platform 3, overshooting it by around four coaches. Railway officials said the train's guard applied emergency brakes, after which the rake was taken to Bhandup station, where it was held for about eight minutes before departing at 6pm. Authorities have launched a probe to determine the cause of the overshoot.
Central Railway will operate four special suburban services on the intervening night of April 13 and 14 to facilitate commuters on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, officials said. The services will run on both the main and harbour lines, with trains between CSMT-Kalyan and CSMT-Panvel during late-night hours. Regular services on April 14 will run as per schedule....
