axiom 4 mission with indian pilot gets 5th lift-off date
Mumbai, June 15 -- The launch of the much-delayed Axiom 4 (Ax-4) mission carrying Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station (ISS) will take place on June 19, Union minister for science and technology Jitendra Singh said on Saturday.
"Launch date of the Axiom-4 mission carrying Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station is, as of now, rescheduled for June 19, 2025," Singh said on X. "Also, Space X team has confirmed that all the issues, that led to earlier postponement of the launch, have been duly addressed."
Ax-4 mission is a collaborative effort between Texas-based Axiom Space, SpaceX, and NASA. The mission will send a four-member international crew from India, Hungary, Poland and the US to ISS for a two-week mission. This is the fourth time that a date for the launch has been announced since the mission was originally fixed for May 29. The launch was first pushed to June 8 due to an observation in the electrical harness in the Crew Dragon Module. It was then postponed by a day due to a delay in the preparation of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle.
The launch was later pushed to June 10 due to unfavourable weather conditions. It was then called off for the fourth time after a liquid oxygen leak was detected in the propulsion bay.
In a statement on Saturday, Isro said oxygen leak in the launch vehicle has been resolved. "During a coordination meeting between Isro, Axiom Space, and SpaceX, it was confirmed liquid oxygen leak in Falcon 9 launch vehicle has been resolved," the space agency said. "Axiom Space is now targeting June 19, 2025 for the launch of the Ax-04 mission," it added.
NASA said the US space agency, Axiom Space, and SpaceX are "reviewing launch opportunities no earlier than June 19."...
