Assam: 5 arrested with skin, bones of Bengal tiger
Silchar, Nov. 24 -- Five people have been detained with the bones and skin of a Royal Bengal Tiger in Biswanath district of Assam, forest officials said on Sunday.
Eilaram Doley (32), Kerani Kaman (35), Pulish Kutum (41), Ripun Pegu (24), and Dipen Pegu (41) were detained on Saturday after an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Biswanath Wildlife Division under the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve, according to Biswanath divisional forest officer (DFO) Ritu Paban Borah.
"They were detained on Saturday, were arrested under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act," Borah said. "These five include both buyers and sellers. They brought the bones and skin from outside the district and were attempting to strike a deal worth Rs.40 lakh," Borah added....
