Aizawl, Dec. 4 -- The Assam Rifles recovered around 5.55 kg of methamphetamine tablets worth Rs.16.65 crore during a search operation in Champhai's Venglai locality in Mizoram on Tuesday, an officer familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. In a statement, inspector general of Assam Rifles (east) said: "After receiving credible information related to the narcotics trafficking near Indo-Myanmar border, the Assam Rifles conducted an operation in Venglai locality in Champhai on Tuesday." "During the operation, unusual movement was detected near the suspected location. Around 5.55 kg of methamphetamine tablets, a psychotropic substance, with an estimated international market value of Rs.16.65 crores was also recovered," the statement said. "One person, identified as, Zolianthangi, was apprehended in connection with the recovery," the statement added. The seized contraband was handed over to the excise and narcotics department, Champhai for detailed investigation and further legal action under applicable laws, the official said.....
