India, March 28 -- A Guwahati-based journalist of a digital portal was arrested on Thursday, hours after he was released on bail for allegedly abusing a tribal man, officers aware of the matter said. Dilwar Hussain Mozumder, a journalist with the portal, The Cross Current, was arrested under the stringent Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for allegedly abusing an unnamed guard of the Assam Cooperative Apex Bank (ACAB) while covering a protest over allegations of irregularities against the bank, in which chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is also a director. Sarma said on Thursday that no journalist was arrested in Assam in recent times. Mozumder is known to him as a businessman who owns several dumper trucks, he added.
