Alok looked at me and said, 'He has stabbed me in the stomach'
India, Jan. 26 -- "My My college classes ended at 5pm, after which I met Singh. Together, we boarded an autorickshaw outside the college for Andheri railway station. Singh and I boarded the Down Borivali slow local, which arrived on platform 3 at around 5.25pm.
We boarded a general compartment and stood near the door on the east of the aisle as the compartment was moderately crowded. The train arrived at Malad at around 5.40pm, when an unknown person standing behind Singh - around 30-35 years old; of medium build; wearing a white, full-sleeved shirt and blue jeans; with long, black hair and a mustache; and carrying a bag on his back - said to Singh, 'Malad is coming, do you want to get off? If you want to get off, move forward'.
Singh replied to the person, 'Yes, I will be getting off at Malad, but there are ladies ahead, can't you see?'
Since I didn't need to get off at Malad, I made way for Singh to move towards the door. Next, the train halted at platform 1 at Malad. Singh and the unknown person behind him were still arguing as they began to alight along with a crowd of other passengers.
As Singh was stepping off the train, while still holding onto the doorway, he looked at me and said, 'He has stabbed me in the stomach'.
I immediately grabbed the hair of the unidentified person as he was alighting from the compartment. But he managed to shake off my hand, climbed onto the platform, and started running towards the foot overbridge. I immediately got off the train and chased after him but since he had a head start, I stopped chasing him. Instead, I shouted to other passengers to catch the man and I went back to Singh.
He was injured and, with the help of other passengers, I made him sit on a bench on the platform. I noticed a deep wound in his abdomen, which seemed to have been inflicted with a sharp object. He was bleeding profusely
We (Trivedi and other passengers) were trying to contact various railway helplines and the police and the station master at Malad station arrived. I narrated the incident to the police and accompanied the police, who rushed Singh to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali west.
The medical officer at the hospital examined Singh and declared him dead at 6.15pm. At 7pm, Singh's body was taken to Bhagwati Hospital. The GRP officers then informed Singh's father, Sunil Singh, of his son's death....
