MUMBAI, Dec. 3 -- The State Election Commission (SEC) has sent notices to over 15 politicians, including deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, for their objectionable remarks that may have influenced behaviour of voters during the elections, on Tuesday at the end of the first phase of elections. A week ago in a rally in Baramati, Pawar had said as he controls the state's funds as the finance minister, if people did not vote for his candidates no funds would be released. At the time, higher and technical education minister and BJP leader Chandrakant Patil said in a campaign rally: "Let keys of the exchequer be with anybody; the master of the exchequer (CM Fadnavis) is with us." "These and similar remarks have been seen as influencing voters which is against the model code of conduct. We have sent notices to over 15 such leaders for the violation of the code of conducts. Action will be taken on the basis of their reply to the notices," said an official from EC.
