25-kg weed, gems worth Rs.1.6 cr seized from flyers at Airport
Mumbai, June 20 -- The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Wednesday arrested three people at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport who were in possession of 24.96 kg of hydroponic weed worth Rs.24.66 crore . The AIU also seized Saudi riyals and diamonds worth Rs.1.71 crore from another passenger on Tuesday. The four accused are in judicial custody.
The AIU, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a couple arriving from Bangkok and seized 24.96kg of hydroponic weed from them. The couple revealed the identity of a dealer who was waiting for them outside the airport. Subsequently, the dealer was arrested. During interrogation, he revealed he was merely following instructions. The accused are allegedly a part of an international drug syndicate.
On Tuesday, the AIU intercepted another passenger departing to Dubai and seized 50,000 Saudi Riyals, 406.90 grams lab-grown diamonds worth Rs.47.22 lakh, and 245.3 grams of natural diamonds worth Rs.1.24 crore....
