Mumbai, June 16 -- A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his live-in partner by slitting her throat after a fight over marriage. The incident occurred on Thursday, and the accused, Samshuddin Mohammed Hafiz, was arrested by Mira Road police on Saturday. Hafiz, a chef at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, had been in a relationship with 19-year-old Kareena Ali, a bar singer in Dahisar, for two years. They had been living together for a year in a Mhada flat. Kareena's brother, Imran Ali, said the couple had been planning to marry, but Kareena wanted to focus on her career and earn money first. Over the past week, the two had frequent arguments, with Hafiz accusing Kareena of infidelity and threatening to leave. When she did not protest, he left the house but returned later. Imran and his cousin, present at the time, witnessed Hafiz assaulting Kareena. When they tried to intervene, he attacked them too. The altercation escalated, and Hafiz pulled out a knife and slit Kareena's throat before fleeing. Imran rushed his sister to the hospital, where she was declared dead. He later filed a complaint with the police. Hafiz has been booked for murder under BNS. megha sood...
