23-year-old biker dies after being hit by speeding truck
NAVI MUMBAI, April 28 -- A 23-year-old biker was killed after a 12-tyre truck hit his motorcycle from behind near Shetkari School in Ghansoli on Saturday night. The victim, Mohammad Aafan Aqeel Sheikh, a Turbhegaon resident, died of severe injuries, police said.
An FIR registered at Rabale police station states that the accused, Jameel Abdul Wahid, a Faridabad resident, was allegedly driving the truck rashly and negligently when it rammed into the bike and knocked Sheikh off.
"Sheikh suffered severe head injuries and fractures to his right leg and waist region. He died due to the impact," a police officer said.
Police said a rescue team reached the spot soon after the accident and the damaged motorcycle has been seized.
Investigators are currently probing factors such as speed, visibility, and heavy vehicle movement in the area to determine whether they led to the fatal crash.
An FIR was lodged on Sunday and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for dangerous driving....
