NAVI MUMBAI, July 3 -- An adventurous outing turned tragic for a 22-year-old Jogeshwari resident on June 30 after he jumped into the Channat waterfall without estimating the undercurrent. The deceased, Rishi Vasudev Pathipaka, travelled to the remote forest in Raigad district's Mangaon taluka with three friends that day. His friends, who did not know how to swim, recorded his stunt and subsequent death on a mobile phone, said a police officer. According to the ADR registered by the Mangaon police on Tuesday, the incident occurred at approximately 5.15pm. "Unaware of the strong undercurrent, he decided to dive into the waterfall. Within seconds, he began struggling to stay afloat. The force of the current dragged him under, and he drowned," said the investigating officer. A rescue team was summoned immediately. However, the body was recovered only on the following day. htc...
