2 dead, 1 injured as bus hits trio on two-wheeler in mumbra
THANE, April 8 -- Two men were killed and a third was injured after a speeding bus hit their scooter in Mumbra on Tuesday afternoon, said the police.
The three of them were triple riding on a Suzuki Burgman and heading towards Y Junction along the Mumbra-Shilphata road when the accident occurred. According to the police, the speeding bus brushed against the scooter, causing the riders to lose balance and fall. Two of them died on the spot after they were run over by the front wheels of the bus and sustained fatal head injuries.
The deceased were identified as Sangam Rajhesh Pulshare, 21, and Avinash Ramda Dawande, 19. The injured, Mahesh Bhagwan Ware, 18, was admitted to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa and is currently out of danger. Mustafa Husain Sheikh, 58, the bus driver and a resident of Reti Bunder, has been detained by the Mumbra police.
Tejas Sawant, assistant police inspector at the Mumbra police station, said local residents rushed to the spot, pulled the victims from beneath the bus and alerted the authorities. CCTV footage showed none of the three were wearing helmets at the time of the accident....
