14-year-old boy booked for sexually assaulting minor
MUMBAI, Jan. 10 -- The police have booked a 14-year-old boy for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old schoolmate, officials said on Friday.
According to the police, the complaint was lodged by the 35-year-old mother of the survivor on Thursday after she learnt about the alleged assault. Both children are Class VIII students at the same school and reside in a government employees' colony.
Police said the alleged incident took place on February 15, 2025, during recess hours at the school. The accused minor allegedly took the boy to a washroom where the assault occurred and later threatened him against disclosing the incident.
The matter came to light after the accused minor allegedly attempted to assault the boy again recently in the society premises, following which the child informed his mother, police said.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"The accused minor has been asked to appear before the Juvenile Justice Board on Saturday," a police officer said.
