Bharatpur, Aug. 14 -- A total of 11 people, including seven children, were killed and several others injured after a pickup van with 22 people on board rammed into a stationary truck in Dausa district of Rajasthan on Wednesday, police officers privy to the matter said. The accident took place on NH-148 near Dausa's Bapi village around 3.30am on Wednesday, cops said. Dausa SP Sagar Rana said, "The victims, hailing from Etah and Firozabad districts of Uttar Pradesh, were returning from Khatu Shyam temple. Around 45 devotees from Asrauli village had travelled in two pickups for the pilgrimage. The mishap involved one vehicles which was carrying over 22 passengers, mostly women and children." While 10 people died on the spot, one critically injured person succumbed to injuries at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, the SP said. Dr Anurag Dhakar from SMS Hospital said, "Around 10 injured, including three women and three children, were brought here. Of them, one woman, Seema Devi, died while her husband Manoj is in the ICU." Three patients have suffered head injuries, while one of the three children is critical, Dhakar added. The deceased include Poorvi Rajput (3), Priyanka Devi(25), Daksh Rajput(12), Sheela Devi(35), Seema Devi(25), Anshu Rajput (26), and Saurabh Rajput (35), while four remain unidentified. Four injured are being treated at Dausa district hospital, while other seriously injured victims - Lakshya Rajput(5), Naitik Rajput(6), Rita Devi(30), Nilesh Kumari (22), Priyanka Kumari(19), Saurabh Rajput (28), Manoj Rajput (28), and one other - have been admitted to SMS Hospital. Prime Minister Modi condoled the loss of lives in the accident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakh from PM National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs.50,000 to the injured. He said on X, "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in an accident in Dausa, Rajasthan. Condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased."...
