1 dead as bike crashes into dumper
MUMBAI, July 18 -- A 40-year-old pillion rider died on Wednesday after the bike she was on rammed into a dumper ahead when the dumper driver applied sudden brakes. The incident occurred in Sewri when she was returning home from office with her colleague, who was riding the bike, said a police officer.
According to the police, the incident occurred at 5:30 pm on the Bombay Port Trust Road near Eastern Freeway. When the dumper driver applied sudden brakes, the motorcyclist lost control of the bike and rammed into the dumper. The woman was rushed to the Somaiya hospital in Sion where she was declared dead. Her colleague sustained minor injuries.
The police booked the dumper driver under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
