Nagpur, Aug. 10 -- Sharad Pawar also called for national unity in backing the Narendra Modi government over the recent steep tariff hikes imposed by US President Donald Trump on Indian goods. "The imposition of a 50% tariff on Indian goods is a pressure tactic. We, the people of India, should support the government to protect the country's interests," he said. While refraining from blaming the Modi government's foreign policy, Pawar described Trump's approach as "impulsive" and resistant to negotiation. The US has announced two rounds of tariffs - 25% from August 7 and another 25% three weeks later - targeting, among other sectors, India's oil trade with Russia. Pawar also warned against deteriorating ties with neighbouring countries. "Pakistan is already against us, and countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are not happy with us. Our neighbours are moving away. Modi saheb should not ignore this and must focus on improving ties," he said....
