Pune, Jan. 29 -- Maharashtra school education minister Dada Bhuse on Tuesday said 'Nation First' is the core philosophy of the government's education policy, and efforts are being made to instil patriotism, social responsibility, and moral values in students through academics, activities, and cultural programmes. He was speaking to the media after attending the Balbharati Diamond Jubilee celebration in Pune. Bhuse said that singing the national anthem and Maharashtra geet is mandatory for all schools, and warned that strict action will be taken against schools found closed on 26 January. On the lack of government regulation over pre-primary education, he said, "As per the National Education Policy (NEP), a legal framework is required for regulation. A draft law is currently under process and has been prepared in consultation with experts. The law will be introduced and passed in the upcoming legislative session". Speaking on the implementation of 25% reservation under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in private schools, Bhuse acknowledged that many private institutions fail to implement the provision properly and that the government currently has limited control over private school fee structures. He said, "The government will soon frame strict rules to ensure effective implementation of RTE. Simultaneously, efforts are being made to improve the quality of education in government schools so that parents are not compelled to seek admission in private schools."...
