Zubeen's manager, 3 others charged with murder, says SIT chief
GUWAHATI, Dec. 13 -- Eighty four days after Assam's cultural icon Zubeen Garg died suddenly in Singapore under suspicious circumstances while swimming in the sea, the special investigation team (SIT) of Assam Police criminal investigation department (CID) conducting a murder investigation into the death submitted a chargesheet in the case in a Guwahati court on Friday.
Special DGP (CID) MP Gupta, who is also head of the 9-member SIT probing the case, said that of the seven accused four have been charged with murder and other charges.
They are Zubeen's manager, Siddharth Sharma, event organiser, Shyamkanu Mahanta and the 52-year-old musician's bandmates, Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta.
"Besides murder, accused Siddharth Sharma, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta have been charged with criminal conspiracy and common knowledge/intention/cooperation," said Gupta.
Sharma has also been booked for criminal breach of trust, Shyamkanu for extortion, cheating and evidence destruction, Goswami for criminal breach of trust, and Amritprava for evidence destruction.
Gupta said ubeen's cousin and police officer, Sanipon Garg, has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and the late singer's two security officers, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya have been charged with criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust. P4...
