Youths turn to theatre for passion, peace & growth
Lucknow, May 21 -- Seeking peace of mind and a break from routine stress, several youths have joined a month-long, performance-oriented theatre workshop that began Tuesday at Bhartendu Natya Academy. While some are balancing full-time careers with their passion, others who left their jobs over the past few years have enrolled to learn the nuances of theatre.
Dr Shashank Shekhar Mishra (33), a dental surgeon, said he adjusted his clinic hours to attend the workshop. "I've shifted my clinic timings to the evening so I can refine my acting skills. Acting has always been my passion. I'm also a Sangeet Natak Akademi-certified radio jockey, and now I want to pursue acting with the same dedication," said Mishra, who travels daily from Barabanki.
Dr Mohammad Shadab (25), an MBBS graduate preparing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, said theatre helps him de-stress and improve focus. "I aim to pursue post-graduation from Russia. Theatre helps me concentrate better and acts as a great stress reliever," he said.
Achintya Pandey (18), an IPMAT aspirant, said the workshop has taught him time management. "I study for two hours daily for my MBA entrance and teach underprivileged students as well. Theatre is not just about skills; it helps me express myself and let go of emotional baggage," he shared.
Vijay Rathore (28), who has cleared the UPSC combined geo-scientist examination and is awaiting posting, said he joined the workshop to improve soft skills. "Theatre enhances speaking skills through breathing exercises and helps build leadership and team spirit," he said....
