Prayagraj, Jan. 9 -- Two youths from Ghamsira village under Karari police station area in Kaushambi were allegedly cheated of Rs.2.41 lakh by fraudsters who promised to send them abroad for employment. According to the complaint, Shadab Ahmed said Wasim Ahmed of Bairampur promised to send him to Saudi Arabia and arrange a job. In April 2025, the accused took Rs.1.21 lakh from him and Rs.1.20 lakh from his neighbour Kaleem on the same pretext. When the victims demanded their money back, they were allegedly threatened. Paschimsharira police have registered a case and started an investigation. Cyber criminals cheated four people, including a woman, of Rs.68.65 lakh in separate cases reported in the city. Sanyogita Andreas of Civil Lines was cheated of Rs.50 lakh after being lured into a fake investment WhatsApp group. Rambabu of Rajapur lost Rs.9.84 lakh to fraudsters posing as RBI officials. Praveen Kumar Patel of Shivkuti was cheated of Rs.8.56 lakh through a fake group, while Abhishek Singh of George Town lost Rs.25,000. Cyber police have registered FIRs in all cases. Passengers panicked after a contractual UPSRTC bus was pelted with stones near the Shantipura intersection on Thursday. The incident followed a minor argument between the bus driver and municipal corporation employees after a garbage truck allegedly hit the bus and damaged a window. Soon after, around 30 to 40 unidentified persons stopped the bus and threw stones at it. The attackers fled before police arrived. The bus driver has lodged a complaint at Phaphamau police station....
