Youth urged to be drivers of self-reliance
LUCKNOW, March 2 -- The two-day 'Savishkar Startup Sangam 2026', a national conclave focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, concluded at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) on Sunday, with speakers urging young innovators to move beyond job seeking and become drivers of self-reliance and nation-building.
Organised under the banner of 'Savishkar', the event brought together around 250 delegates from across the country, including students, startup founders, investors and industry experts. The conclave emphasised transforming academic campuses into active hubs of innovation while aligning entrepreneurial ventures with the broader goal of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
Delivering the keynote address, Devdutt Joshi, national co-organising secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), said: "Indian youth are no longer confined to employment queues but are increasingly becoming employment generators."
He stressed that startups emerging from platforms like Savishkar must focus not only on economic gains but also on developing affordable and technology-driven solutions for the most marginalised sections of society.
"Our youth possess immense energy and globally competitive ideas. What they require is the right platform and guidance. True nation-building lies in creating solutions for the last person in society," he said.
Addressing the valedictory session, Ghanshyam Shahi, zonal organising secretary of ABVP (East Uttar Pradesh), highlighted the participation of students from small towns and rural areas, noting that many presented practical and transformative startup concepts.
He said the initiative aims to take ideas beyond documentation and into real-world implementation, adding that universities must evolve from degree-distributing institutions into dynamic ecosystems fostering enterprise.
Summarising the event, Nisarg Rathore, national convenor of Savishkar, described the conclave as the beginning of an "ideological revolution" encouraging youth to transition from job seekers to job creators. He said the interaction between students, investors and industry leaders over the two days would help promising ventures secure proper incubation and support.
Representatives from several prominent companies and institutions participated in panel discussions. They included Meta, IIM Lucknow Incubation Centre and I-Hub UP AKTU. The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks to guests, speakers, mentors and student representatives from across the country, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram....
