Youth makes video call beforedeath; 'suicide note' indicatesgaming stress in other case
LUCKNOW, Aug. 22 -- A 22-year-old youth and an 18-year-old student died by suicide in separate incidents in city on Thursday, said police.
In the first case, the youth's body was found hanging at his friend's house in the Bijnor police station area. The man, who worked at a garage in Nadarganj, had the house keys as the owner was away with his family. Around 11am, he made a video call to his mother, saying he was going to end his life and that no one should come there.
When repeated calls went unanswered, his brother rushed to the spot and broke open the door to find his body hanging. The police sent the body for a post-mortem examination and were investigating the reason behind the extreme step.
"The reason why he took this step is not clear," said Bijnor inspector in-charge Shiv Shankar Mahadevan.
In the second case, a Class 12 student ended his life at his home in Chhota Bharwara, Gomti Nagar Extension. The youth's father found his body hanging from the ceiling when he did not wake up in the morning. A suicide note written in English was recovered from his room, indicating addiction to online games and fear of monetary loss. The boy was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. His mother was away in Azamgarh, while his father and two younger sisters were home when the incident took place, said cops. "The note suggests stress related to online gaming," said inspector Sudhir Awasthi. HTC...
