Youth loses Rs 6.69 lakh after phone theft
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 5 -- A young resident of Fazilpur Gopalpur village under Painsa police station in Kaushambi was allegedly cheated of nearly Rs 6.69 lakh after his mobile phone was stolen in Delhi, police said on Friday. The victim, identified as Adalti Prasad, son of Shahdev, complained after discovering the financial loss.
According to the complaint, Prasad travelled to Delhi on April 26, 2025, for work. His mobile phone was stolen at Anand Vihar railway station. The device had online payment apps which had mobile banking access. Cybercriminals allegedly exploited these apps to transfer around Rs.6.69 lakh from his account.
Prasad said he immediately blocked his bank account and attempted to trace the fraud independently. On Friday, he filed a complaint with Painsa police. SHO Roshanlal confirmed that a cybercrime case has been registered and investigation is underway....
