Youth killed in Meerut sugarcane field
Meerut, June 26 -- A 22-year-old youth was found shot dead in a sugarcane field in Amehra Adipur village, under Ganganagar police station limits, early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the young man had returned home from work on Tuesday evening. Later, he told his family he was going out to play but did not return. His family began searching for him after he failed to come back that night. Around 1 am, he tried to call his father, but the call went unanswered as the family was asleep.
The next morning, villagers discovered his body lying under a tree in the nearby sugarcane field. Police were informed immediately. A forensic team and circle officer (Sadar Dehat) Shiv Pratap Singh reached the spot to examine the scene.
Police said the victim was shot in the lower back on the right side. A country-made pistol was found under his body, with a spent cartridge stuck inside.
A plastic water bottle was also recovered from the scene and is being checked for clues. Senior superintendent of police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra said that early evidence suggests the killing may be linked to a love affair.
The victim's family mentioned in their complaint that he was in a relationship with a girl from the same village and community. They have named two people in the complaint, accusing them of being involved in the murder.
"The post-mortem examination is being done, and an FIR has been filed under BNS section 103 for murder.
Two suspects have been named. It appears the motive was a love affair, but all possibilities are being looked into," said SP rural Rakesh Kumar Mishra....
