GORAKHPUR, Feb. 1 -- A 22-year-old youth, who was allegedly abducted from Nauka Vihar on Friday evening, was recovered in an unconscious state nearly 30km away late the same night, following swift police action. Six persons were arrested in connection with the incident, said police. SP (city) Abhinav Tyagi said an FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim's mother. "Six persons, residents of Maharajganj district, have been arrested in connection with the case. The victim was traced using his mobile phone location and recovered safely. He is undergoing treatment at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. A thorough investigation from all angles is underway, and strict action will be taken against all those involved," he said. According to police, the victim was identified as Shahid Quraishi, a resident of Jafra Bazar locality. Shahid had reached Nauka Vihar around 8.30pm and went missing thereafter. After receiving information, police immediately launched a search operation and recovered him later in the night. In his statement to the police, Shahid alleged that half a dozen youths arrived at the spot in two luxury vehicles. Following a verbal altercation, they assaulted him, forcibly dragged him into a car and drove towards Maharajganj. After about half an hour, he was allegedly dumped at an unidentified location. Police officials said preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim had a keen interest in making social media reels, and investigators were examining whether this had any connection with the crime.
