Lucknow, July 4 -- Over 350 delegates from across India and abroad participated in the three-day 10th La Martiniere Girls' Model United Nations (LMGMUN) that began on Thursday. Colonel Neha Bhatnagar, an Everest summiteer, was the chief guest during the opening ceremony. Over 20 local schools are part of the three-day event, which includes delegates from Singapore, Oman and UAE. Nine committees, each tackling complex global issues were formed on Day One. In the UN Human Rights Council, delegates engaged in intense deliberations on the weaponisation of citizenship revocation and the growing crisis of statelessness. Speakers delivered arguments, highlighting human rights as the cornerstone of global peace. The Joint Crisis Committee brought history alive by re-enacting The Boston Tea Party. An All-Girls Inter-Agency Committee on bioethics had students tackling futuristic dilemmas such as human augmentation.
