Prayagraj, May 9 -- A land dispute in Mahokhari village, located in Pratapgarh, turned fatal on Thursday morning when a young man was shot dead and his aunt critically injured. The incident stemmed from a disagreement over the clearing of land with a JCB machine. According to reports, Om Kailash Dubey, a resident of Mahokhari, had purchased a small plot of land near his neighbour, Ravindra Dubey's property. On Wednesday evening, Om Kailash arranged for land to be cleared by a JCB, which inadvertently disturbed a section of land owned by Ravindra's son, Narendra. This led to a heated argument between the two families. The situation escalated early on Thursday morning when Ravindra and members of Om Kailash's family clashed again. During the argument, Ravindra, armed with a licensed double-barrel shotgun, shot Om Kailash's 22-year-old son, Aman, in the chest. The violence continued when the assailants entered the nearby house of Om Kailash's brother, Shiv Kailash, and shot his wife, Sarita, 37, in the chest. The victims were rushed to Pratapgarh Medical College, but Aman was declared dead upon arrival. Sarita, seriously injured, was later referred to Prayagraj.
