Young man kills minor girl friend, then himself after police raid
MEERUT, Sept. 26 -- A 26-year-old man shot his 16-year-old girlfriend and then himself after being surrounded by police on a rooftop in Bulandshahr's Dibai area early on Thursday morning. Both died on the spot.
According to police, the girl, from Muzaffarnagar district, and Bablu Gurjar, a resident of Haridwar, had eloped on September 20. They had been staying in Dibai since September 22 in a rented house arranged by Bablu's uncle, Pramod, who had earlier worked in the area as a beekeeper. On the day the girl went missing, her father had filed a missing person's report at Chhapar police station in Muzaffarnagar.
In the early hours of Thursday, around 3 am, a police team from Muzaffarnagar raided the rented house after receiving a missing person report. They were helped by Bablu's uncle, the village head, and two others. The couple inside refused to open the door. Instead, they tried to escape by running across the rooftops.
They reached the terrace of a nearby house about 30 metres away. Realising they were trapped, Bablu took out a country-made .315 bore pistol. He shot the girl in the head, killing her immediately, and then shot himself.
The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination. Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar inspected the site. Police recovered a.315 bore country-made pistol and two empty cartridges from the rooftop.
The SSP said, "Primary investigation revealed that in order to evade the police, the two had first gone to the neighbor's terrace. When they found no way to escape, the young man first shot his minor girlfriend and then fired a bullet into his own temple. Both died."...
