Lucknow, July 9 -- In a high-level meeting held on Tuesday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath was presented with the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Index-an initiative by the planning department in collaboration with the Udayati Foundation. The index aims to assess the outreach of government schemes among women and support gender-inclusive, evidence-based policymaking. The WEE Index evaluates all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh across five core parameters: entrepreneurship, employment, education and skill development, livelihood and safety and transportation infrastructure. It offers insights into districts effectively extending benefits to women and highlights areas where targeted interventions are needed. CM Adityanath directed officials to integrate the WEE Index with the CM's control room for real-time monitoring. "All departments must treat the index as a foundational tool for policymaking and tracking outcomes. Departments should develop actionable plans based on the index, with a focus on women's empowerment in their respective areas. District-level strategies must be framed to localize the impact of state schemes," he said. The presentation spotlighted districts such as Lucknow, and Varanasi for notable progress in women-centric schemes. Conversely, districts like Shravasti, Sambhal, Balrampur, and Siddharthnagar were flagged for urgent intervention. In response, the CM directed targeted campaigns under the ODOP (One District One Product) Margin Money Scheme in Banda, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Mahoba, Shravasti, and Sitapur to improve women's inclusion. CM Yogi emphasised the need to expand women's participation in the workforce and governance.
