Yogi pays floral tributes toBuddhist monk in Kushinagar
GORAKHPUR, Nov. 10 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday paid floral tributes to Buddhist monk Bhante A B Gyaneshwar, who passed away recently, in Kushinagar and said his life is a symbol of compassion, service, and peace.
Later, Adityanath arrived in Gorakhpur on a two-day visit and offered prayers at the shrine of Guru Gorakhnath. He will participate in a two-kilometre Ekta Yatra on Monday to mark the ongoing 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that began on October 31. Officials said similar yatras will be launched simultaneously in all 403 assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and will continue until November 25.
In a post on X in Hindi, Adityanath said, "Today, in Kushinagar district, I paid my last respects to the renowned Buddhist religious leader and saint, Shri Bhante Dnyaneshwar Ji, and offered floral tributes."
Uttar Pradesh agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Kushinagar MP Vijay Kumar Dubey, MLAs, officials and Buddhist monks were also present on the occasion.
Bhante A B Gyaneshwar died in a Lucknow hospital during treatment on the morning of October 31 following a prolonged illness. He was 90 years old.
His mortal remains have been kept at the Burma Buddha Vihar for public homage until November 10, after which his final rites will be performed according to Buddhist rituals.
Earlier, the chief minister also reviewed the ongoing construction of the Mahatma Buddha Agricultural and Technology University in Kushinagar and instructed officials to complete the project within the stipulated time....
