India, Jan. 1 -- Yogi Adityanath, the longest serving chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, remains the BJP's best bet for the 2027 state assembly elections as he seeks a third successive term . Adityanath has completed an uninterrupted tenure of 8 years and 9 months in office till December end. The party needs him to regain lost ground after a large chunk of OBC and Dalit voters shifted to the INDIA bloc in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Though he is seen by critics as a polarising figure, the party has exuded confidence in him. He was among the BJP's star campaigners in the recently held Delhi, Maharashtra and Bihar assembly elections. The year 2026 comes as a challenge for Yogi as he faces the task of ensuring the party's victory in the panchayat elections. He has earned the 'Bulldozer Baba' tag because of his action against illegal properties of the mafia and demolition of illegal structures.
