Mussoorie, Sept. 8 -- Light to moderate rainfall over the last 24 hours triggered landslides and boulder falls across Uttarakhand, leaving 182 roads blocked and disrupting the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. The state recorded 5.7mm of rain on Sunday, a 35% shortfall from the normal of 8.7mm. However, Bageshwar and Chamoli reported excess rainfall 22.5mm against a normal of 7.7mm (192% above normal) and 18.1 mm against 3.9 mm (364% above normal) respectively. The IMD's Dehradun centre has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning till September 12. Officials warned of intense to very intense spells in isolated areas of Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar and Nainital on Monday, with thunderstorms expected across all districts on September 10 and 11. The heaviest rain impact was reported from Naugaon in Barkot tehsil of Uttarkashi district. A house was buried under debris in Devalsari Khad late Saturday night, though all family members managed to escape, officials said. The Purola road was also blocked for several hours. Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya said relief teams were rushed to the site. "PWD has been directed to clear debris and restore connectivity at the earliest," he said. The Char Dham Yatra remained disrupted on both Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham routes. On the Gangotri highway, traffic was halted at Helgu Gad and Dabrani due to mud and boulders. "Heavy machinery has been deployed, and the road is expected to reopen by late evening," said Uttarkashi disaster management officer Shardul Gusain.According to officials, 182 roads were blocked till Sunday morning....
