PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 15 -- The water level of the Ganga and Yamuna has again started rising from Thursday morning, even as residents of low-lying localities in the city are still re-settling into their houses. Executive engineer (irrigation), Prayagraj, RK Singh, said that the level of both the Ganga and the Yamuna has risen slightly owing to the release of water in Ganga from the Haridwar barrage and Kanpur barrage. He said that heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand was leading to a rise in the water level of Ganga for the fourth time this year. "The trend will continue for both rivers for at least two more days," he added. According to reports made available by the flood control room, in the past 12 hours between 8am and 8pm on Thursday, the water level of Yamuna in Naini recorded a rise of 7 cm while the water level of Ganga in Chatnag recorded a rise of 6 cm. In Phaphamau, the rise was 1 cm. At 8pm on Thursday, the water level of the Yamuna in Naini was measured at 79.59 meters, while the level of Ganga in Phaphamau was recorded at 79.53 meters, and in Chhatnag the level was measured at 79.06 meters....
