Wrong-side bus kills man in Lko; kin protest
Lucknow, Dec. 23 -- A 29-year-old man was killed on Monday morning after a private bus, allegedly driving on the wrong side, hit his motorcycle on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway service road.
The accident took place around 8.30 am near the Baburiya Kheda underpass in the Para police station area.
The victim, Rohit Kumar, a resident of Dona village in Kakori, was on his way to work when the bus rammed into his bike. He worked as a security guard at a private hospital.
Police said the bus was coming from the wrong direction at high speed amid dense fog.
The impact threw Rohit nearly 20 feet away. He was rushed to the Trauma Centre by ambulance, where doctors declared him dead. "The bus has been seized and a case has been registered against the driver. The matter is under investigation," said Para SHO Suresh Singh.
Following the accident, Rohit's family members and local residents blocked the road and staged a protest for nearly two hours.
They demanded strict action against the driver and compensation for the family. Police teams from Para, Dubagga, Kakori and Mankapur reached the spot and pacified the protesters after assuring them of appropriate action.
Rohit's father, Shivratan, later submitted a memorandum to the Para station in-charge.
Local residents alleged that private buses often ply in the wrong direction on the service road to reach Kakori and Kisan Path, leading to frequent accidents in the area....
