PRAYAGRAJ, April 16 -- The performance of the Prayagraj region in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 examinations has once again been disappointing. As in previous years, girls have outperformed boys in the Class 10 results this year. Out of 156,964 registered students in the Prayagraj region (92,538 boys and 64,426 girls), 155,727 students (91,734 boys and 63,993 girls) appeared for the exam. Among them, 139,298 students (80,930 boys and 58,368 girls) passed. Out of the overall pass percentage of 89.45%, the pass rate for boys is 88.2%, while for girls it is higher at 91.21%. Looking at the results over the past five years, this year has recorded the lowest number of successful students in the districts under the Prayagraj regional office of CBSE. Last year, out of 17 CBSE regions across the country, Prayagraj ranked 15th in Class 10 results. This time, with the number of regional offices increasing to 22, Prayagraj's position dropped to 17th. This year, 89.45% of candidates passed in the Prayagraj region, compared to 91.01% last year. In 2024, Prayagraj ranked 11th among 17 regional offices nationwide, with a pass percentage of 92.72%. In 2023, out of 16 regional offices, Prayagraj ranked 9th with a pass percentage of 92.6%. In 2022, the region recorded a pass percentage of 94.74%. Students from 1,266 schools across 23 districts under the Prayagraj region appeared for the examination, for which 320 examination centres were set up. The number of districts under the CBSE Prayagraj regional office has been reduced from 49 to 23. After the opening of the Lucknow regional office in September 2025, jurisdiction over 26 districts was transferred to Lucknow. The remaining districts under Prayagraj now include Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Ballia, Basti, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Kaushambi, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Mau, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Sonbhadra, Sultanpur and Varanasi....
