Working on setting up medical college in every district, says u'khand CM
Dehradun, Nov. 14 -- The Uttarakhand government is working on a mission to establish a medical college in every district of the state, with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announcing plans to strengthen both government and private sector participation in medical education.
"The state government has taken concrete steps to make Uttarakhand a hub for medical education and health services, with the goal of opening a medical college in every district," Dhami said in a statement issued on Thursday.
"Our priority is to provide quality medical education so that youth do not have to go abroad for studies and the state becomes self-reliant in healthcare."
He added that nursing and paramedical education are being expanded alongside medical colleges to ensure Uttarakhand not only produces doctors but also becomes a leader in providing healthcare services to North India. Health secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar said medical colleges will soon be opened in Rudrapur and Pithoragarh, adding that the government's focus is on simultaneously strengthening healthcare services and medical education infrastructure....
