Lucknow, Oct. 19 -- Highlighting the importance of party workers, defence minister Rajnath Singh said they are the backbone of the organisation, expressing gratitude for their hard work and dedication. Singh, who is on a three-day visit to his parliamentary constituency Lucknow, made the remark at a Diwali Sneh Milan programme organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gomti Nagar on Saturday evening. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the party and every worker is important, he said. He attributed the BJP's success to divine blessings and said the party has grown exponentially under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The defence minister highlighted India's economic progress, saying that the country is poised to become the third-largest economy in the world in the next few years. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak praised Rajnath Singh, saying he is a dedicated leader who always prioritises the welfare of the party workers. BJP's district president Anand Dwivedi said Singh's presence at the programme is a testament to his commitment to the party workers. Singh interacted with party workers, took photos, and shared sweets with them. The defence minister and other dignitaries lit diyas and wished one another a happy Diwali. Later, Rajnath Singh attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Gajendra Dutt Nathani Memorial Dina Bandhu Eye Hospital. He reminisced about his association with late Nathani, saying that he was a person with a big heart who dedicated his life to serving the nation. The hospital is expected to be a state-of-the-art facility that will provide quality eye care services to people in need....
