Women SHGs earned over Rs.13 lakh during '25 Kedarnath yatra: Officials
Mussoorie, Oct. 28 -- Women self-help groups (SHGs) from Rudraprayag district have collectively earned over Rs.13 lakh through the sale of locally made products during this uear's Kedarnath yatra, officials aware of the development said.
Over 50 women associated with groups including Ganga Dudh Utpadak SHG (Medanpur), Chandika Group, Jai Nagaraja Group, Mathiyana Group, Binsar SHG and Gangeya SHG participated in the initiative, officials said.
The women sold chaulai laddus (amaranth sweets), incense sticks (dhupbatti), and items made from bael leaves, they said adding that through technology and digital platforms, prasad worth around Rs.3 lakh was also sold online this season.
Rudraprayag chief development officer (CDO) Rajendra Singh Rawat said, "Plans are underway to include more SHGs in the next Kedarnath Yatra season."
Belmati Dei, a member of one of the SHGs, said, "We have been able to generate additional income for our families by selling locally made products, which have been appreciated by devotees."
Kedar Sabha member and temple priest Anand Shukla said, "The initiative not only generated income for women's groups but also ensured hygienic prasad for devotees visiting the shrine."...
