VARANASI, July 5 -- Dozens of local women on Friday staged a protest against a country liquor shop coming up in Ghasiyari Tola in Durgakund area of Varanasi district. They demanded that the process of opening the liquor shop should be cancelled with immediate effect. The women marched from Ghasiyari Tola to the parliamentary office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but they were stopped by the police at Gurudham intersection. Bhelupur ACP Gaurav Kumar, Bhelupur Police Station In-charge, Chitaipur Police Station In-charge along with the forces reached the spot. The police tried to pacify the women, but the women remained adamant on their demand. The women have demanded the district magistrate to immediately intervene in this matter and an order should be issued to cancel the process of opening the shop with immediate effect. The protesters warned that if the administration does not accept their demand, they will be forced to launch a big movement. A delegation of women reached the PM's parliamentary office here and met MLA Neelkanth Tiwari who later talked to DM Satyendra Kumar and assured to solve the issue as soon as possible....
