Woman strangles three minor daughters, kills self in Baghpat
Meerut, Sept. 11 -- A horrifying incident unfolded in Tikri town of Baghpat district, where a 29-year-old woman allgedly killed her three young daughters and committed suicide by hanging herself on Tuesday night. The husband was sleeping outside the house at the time of the incident.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem, and launched an investigation into the case.
The deceased woman, originally from Nepal, strangled her three minor daughters aged 7 years, 2 years, and 5 months, with a scarf before hanging herself from the ceiling fan using the same scarf.
At the time of the incident, her husband, a tourist bus driver employed by a travel agency in Delhi, was sleeping outside the house. The incident came to light when he woke up and attempted to enter the room but found the door locked from inside.
After repeatedly calling out to his wife and children and receiving no response, he alerted the police. A flashlight inspection through the ventilator window revealed the bodies of the three daughters and the woman hanging from the fan.
According to police, the couple had been living in Tikri after marrying seven years ago. The woman had previously been married and had a daughter from that marriage. Following disputes with her first husband, she had moved to Ludhiana, Punjab, where she met her current husband.
The couple later married and settled in Tikri, where they had two more children. The family was reportedly living in harmony.
Police officials and family members believe that disputes regarding relocation to Delhi may have triggered the tragedy. While the husband frequently travelled across the country for work and was often away for months, the woman reportedly wanted to live in Delhi with him and the children.
Tensions arising from this issue are being considered a possible cause behind the extreme step.
SP Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that the police are investigating all angles, including domestic disputes and financial stress, that may have contributed to the tragedy....
