LUCKNOW, Aug. 9 -- A woman, posing as a customer, was caught on CCTV stealing a pair of gold earrings from a jewellery showroom in the bustling Bhoothnath Market area, under the Ghazipur police station limits. The CCTV footage of the theft went viral on Friday. The incident took place at around 6 pm at Riddhi Jewellers on Thursday. Police said the woman entered the store and asked the shopkeeper to show her a pair of gold earrings. While the shopkeeper was busy taking out other ornaments, she discreetly dropped a pair of 1-gram gold earrings from the tray onto the floor. Taking advantage of the distraction, she quickly picked up the earrings, hid them, and walked out of the store. It was only after she left that the shopkeeper realised a pair of earrings was missing. On reviewing the CCTV footage, her act was clearly caught. The shop owner immediately reported the matter to the police, who launched a search to identify and trace the suspect.
