Rudrapur, Nov. 3 -- A decomposed body of a 30-year-old woman was found stuffed in a plastic bag near the railway track close to Mandi Samiti in Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar district on Sunday, a police officer familiar with the matter said. According to police, the foul smell emanating from bushes near the Mandi Samiti boundary alerted passersby, who later spotted a plastic bag and informed the police. A police team from Khatima rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Circle officer (Khatima) BS Dhoni said, "Police were informed about a stinking plastic bag lying in the bushes near the Pilibhit railway track. When the bag was opened, the decomposed body of a woman was found stuffed inside." "The woman, estimated to be around 30 years old, was wearing a red suit. A mobile phone was recovered near the bag, and police are examining the device to help establish her identity. The body has been sent to the Khatima mortuary for post-mortem examination, he said. "A forensic team has collected samples from the site, and the special operations group (SOG) is assisting in the investigation," Dhoni said, adding that police have also alerted nearby stations to help trace the woman's identity.
