Woman's body found in canal; man, his parents arrested
Meerut, May 24 -- A man and his parents have been arrested in Bijnor for killing a young woman after her marriage was fixed with someone else. The victim, 24-year-old Ruchika from Deettanpur village, was found dead in a canal on May 18.Police said the main accused, Shivam, is from Suhagpur village. He had been in a relationship with Ruchika since 2016. He wanted to marry her. However, Ruchika's family said she could only marry him if he got a government job. Shivam failed to pass the police recruitment exam.
After that, Ruchika began to distance herself from him. Unable to accept her arranged marriage to a businessman, Shivam planned her murder. On May 10, Shivam asked Ruchika to meet him at RSM College. From there, he took her to his house. He tried to convince her to marry him. Ruchika refused and said she was getting married soon. When she tried to leave, Shivam strangled her.
Shivam kept Ruchika's body at home for hours, then, with his mother holding it upright on a motorcycle, they took it to a bridge and dumped it into a canal.Ruchika's family grew worried when she didn't return from work and filed a missing report on May 16. Soon after, Shivam and his parents fled, locking their house and raising police suspicion.
On May 18, her body was found in a canal. On Thursday, police arrested Shivam, his father Rishipal, and mother Sumesh, who all confessed during questioning. Investigators also recovered the motorcycle used to transport the body and one of Ruchika's slippers from Shivam's house, all three are now in jail by court order....
