Woman's body found hanging, kin alleges murder
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 22 -- A married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Pratapgarh on Sunday.
Her in-laws informed the police and her parents that she had allegedly hanged herself with a saree, said police on Sunday.
The family took her body down from the noose and alerted the police. Her parents have filed a complaint against her in-laws, alleging she was killed over dowry. The police are investigating the case and have sent the body for post-mortem.
As per reports, Salik Singh, a resident of Rakha village under Kandhai police station area of Pratapgarh married the deceased in May this year. After the marriage, she became pregnant. When her husband left for work in Pune, she stayed with her in-laws. Her father-in-law, Shyam Singh, stated that on the night of September 20, she went to sleep after dinner.
However, she allegedly hanged herself in her room with a saree, leading to her death. When she did not come out on Sunday morning, her mother-in-law looked through the window and was shocked to see her hanging from the ceiling fan hook.
The family took down the body and informed her maternal relatives without notifying the police.
Her mother, Kalawati Devi, along with family members Brijesh Singh, Mulayam Singh, Sandeep Singh, and Rajesh Singh, arrived at the scene. Her brother stated that he had visited Rakha village on September 20 and requested her in-laws to let his sister come home, but they refused.
Her body was discovered hanging on Sunday morning. Rajjan Rao, in-charge of the Tala police outpost, inspected the scene along with the forensic team....
