Jhansi, Dec. 1 -- Parts of the body of a 26-year-old woman at the mortuary of Jhansi Medical College were found to be partially eaten by rodents. Chief medical superintendent Dr Sachin Mahour has ordered an inquiry into the incident, which came to light when the woman's family members came to receive her body. The deceased, Kranti Devi, who was living at her parental house in Sirbo in Gursarai area of the district, had consumed poison on Thursday. She was rushed to the medical college where she succumbed during treatment a day later. Her body was preserved in the freezer after the postmortem. Her brother, Saksham Patel, said that they had deposited Rs 400 as fees for the freezer. When they came to receive the body the next day, the family found that parts of the body, including eyes, hands and ears, were partially eaten by rodents. The matter was brought to the notice of the senior officials of the medical college, after which the inquiry was ordered. The CMS said, "The body was kept in the freezer. It is airtight with no place open. I personally went to inspect it. The upper lid of the eye was found damaged. I have ordered an inquiry."...
