Dehradun, Jan. 30 -- A murder investigation was launched after the body of a 18-year-old woman was found in Dhalipur area of Herbertpur under the Vikasnagar police station limits in Dehradun, police said on Thursday, adding that efforts are underway to trace the accused. Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, Ajai Singh said information was received through the control room. "Following the alert, the circle officer (CO) of Vikasnagar, along with police personnel from Vikasnagar police station, immediately reached the spot. The body of a young woman was found lying along the roadside with serious head injuries", he said. Local residents identified the deceased as Manisha, daughter of Anand Singh, a resident of Boksa Basti, Dhalipur. He said during questioning, the deceased's family informed police that Manisha had left home in the evening with her cousin, Surendra, son of Chhota, a resident of Boksa Basti, Dhalipur, on a motorcycle to go to a hospital. When she failed to return, the family began searching for her. Based on a complaint lodged by Manisha's father, Anand Singh, alleging that his daughter was murdered by his brother's son Surendra alias Mandu, a case was registered at Vikasnagar police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The SSP said swift action was taken in the case and the accused's motorcycle and the sickle allegedly used in the crime were recovered from near the crime scene. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the sickle was purchased by the accused two days prior to the incident....
